About

George “Lenny” Pfeffer, Jr. was born in Baltimore, Maryland, in March 1966. His father, George Sr. was an electrical technician for Westinghouse Electric Corporation, and his mother, Pat was a homemaker and active volunteer in the community and school system.

At the age of 3, Lenny’s family moved to Glen Burnie, Maryland, where he attended Anne Arundel County Public Schools, graduating from Old Mill Senior High School in 1984. During his childhood, Lenny was active in community sports, Cub Scouts, student government, and the Civil Air Patrol as a cadet officer and cadet squadron commander.

After high school, Lenny attended Anne Arundel Community College with an emphasis on business management. Lenny then worked as a manager of a busy service station and as a service manager at a large automobile dealership.

In 1989, Lenny was hired by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. This was a lifelong dream for him. He had realized this calling during his training as a volunteer firefighter at the Earleigh Heights Volunteer Fire Company during the mid-1980s. During his career, Lenny was assigned to many different stations and assignments including time as an Emergency Medical Technician on a Basic Life Support ambulance, firefighter, apparatus driver on both engine and truck companies, and eventually as a fire suppression lieutenant. He is a Maryland Emergency Medical Technician and a Nationally Certified Firefighter, Apparatus Operator, Fire Officer and Fire Service Instructor. Lenny also worked as a board certified fire instructor for the University of Maryland’s Fire and Rescue Institute.

In 2011, Lenny suffered an injury while on the job, which led to major back surgery. This lead to Anne Arundel County retiring him after a team of doctors came to the conclusion he would never be able to withstand the physical demands of a full-time firefighter. After it was realized Lenny could not fight fires any more, he became a volunteer with the American Red Cross as a Disaster Action Team member. This allowed him to still help the community during times of natural disasters, as well as assisting victims of dwelling fires with their immediate needs.

Lenny was the owner of a small landscaping company, Stumpys Land Services, but was forced to stop after he was injured as a firefighter. During the mid-2000s, Lenny was a successful Realtor until the company he was working with closed all the local offices due to a collapse in the real estate market.

In his spare time, Lenny enjoys spending time outdoors in Dorchester County, particularly fishing, crabbing, deer and waterfowl hunting.
